PAGESM: Minitel Services Guide

PAGESM (previously called MGS) is a France Telecom service in French. It is updated regularly and lists the 25,000 Minitel services available to the general public.

There are two search methods :

- Search by service code to find information on a specific service. You can also obtain the rate for the service you are looking for. (Prices are in Euros inclusive of VAT. To find out the ex VAT price, divide the inclusive price by 1.196).
- Search by subject. PAGESM presents a list of subjects with the number of services dealing with this subject. Select the subject you require and then select a service from the list. You will then be given a detailed description of this service.

PAGESM can be consulted free of charge via the demonstration account. A charge is made for the services offered by PAGESM. To access these services you need to open your account.

E-mail by Minitel: 3615 MINITELNET

The Minitelnet service enables your contacts who have a Minitel but who do not have access to Internet to open a Web mail box in order to correspond with you. The following description of the service can be sent to your correspondents :

The Minitelnet service enables you to open a Web mail box, using just an ordinary Minitel and without subscription. You can then exchange messages with your correspondents who have an e-mail address in France or anywhere else in the world. To register with Minitelnet and get your e-mail address, press "GUIDE" in the Minitelnet front page. Type in your surname, first name and address. Minitelnet will create your e-mail address using your surname and first name. Then choose the password to protect access to your mail box. That is all you need to do in order to send and receive messages by e-mail. Within a few days of registering, you will receive a letter welcoming you to Minitelnet. No subscription is required for Minitelnet and the telephone call rates apply.

You can access your Minitelnet mail box :
- via 3615 MINITELNET or 3615 LE MEL,
- from outside France (using a Minitel or PC with a Minitel emulator): using the code +33 8 36 43 15 15, charged at the telephone rate to France,
- via Internet: using http://www.lemel.fr ou http://mail.voila.fr

The France Telecom Minitel directory can be accessed via France Telecom's "Minitelfr.com" gateway using the code AE.
NB: In France only, for access using the France Telecom telephone network, the first three minutes of connection to 3611 are free. This arrangement was decided by the French government in 1980 when the Minitel services were launched.
This does not apply to access via "minitelfr.com".

Minicom

The Minicom e-mail service between Minitel users is no longer available outside mainland France and French overseas domains.

Minitelnet, now provides a much better service for e-mail communication between a Minitel and a micro-computer connected to Internet.

Access to the Minitel via the international telephone network.

1- Access to the Minitel services costing up to 0,18 Euro inc VAT per minute

Outside France, if you have a Minitel or a Minitel emulator using the telephone network, you can connect :

• au 3611 by dialling +33 8 36 43 11 11,
• au 3614 by dialling +33 8 36 43 14 14,
• au 3615 by dialling +33 8 36 43 15 15 (for services costing up to 0,018 Euro per minute),
• au 3616 by dialling +33 8 36 43 16 16 (for services costing up to 0,018 Euro per minute)

You will be charged the cost of the telephone call to France by your telephone operator.

2- Access to all Minitel services

• Open your account on the Web site http://www.minitelfr.com. Your access code will be sent to you by post (ID and password).
• Dial +33 8 36 43 14 14 - code MINFR.
• Give your ID and password on the front page.
• To top up your account: go to the "Manage your account page" from http://www.minitelfr.com.

Charges:

• The cost of a telephone call to France which will be invoiced by your telephone operator,
• The cost of the Teletel service: the charge for the length of time for which you are connected is deducted from the prepaid credit in your account with the http://www.minitelfr.com Web site.

This service operates only from Minitel to Minitel and is therefore not available via the "Minitelfr.com" gateway.

- Description :
Miami 36 18 provides written communication in real time from Minitel to Minitel. It enables you to correspond with anyone who has a Minitel. Your correspondent is notified at the start of communications by a voice message indicating the source of the call and requesting him to connect his Minitel.

- Rate: FF0.99 inc VAT for the first minute of communication then a charge for each second.

- As communications are charged according to the length of the call and not the distance, this service is particularly suitable for long distance communications.
